  2. Navigate to the section where you want the quiz to appear.
  3. Click Add module and choose Quiz.
  4. Click the quiz title to rename it.

NOTE

A newly created quiz is empty until you add at least one question.

Use the Questions panel to build your quiz:

  • Click + Add question to create a new question.
  • Click a question to edit it.

  • Select which option(s) are correct:
    • Single choice: only one correct answer can be selected.

TIP

For multiple-choice questions, a learner must select all correct options (and no incorrect options) to be marked correct.

Question settings (feedback + type)

In the question Settings panel you can configure:

  • Question type
    • Single choice
    • Multiple choice
  • Feedback type
    • Single: one feedback message is shown after answering.
    • Correct/Incorrect: different feedback is shown based on whether the learner is correct.

If you don’t provide custom feedback, the learner will still see a default Correct/Incorrect message.

Import questions from a file

You can import questions into a quiz by uploading a document:

  • Supported formats: .pdf, .txt, .docx
  • In the quiz editor, click Upload question file and submit your document.

Learner experience (how quizzes behave in a course)

Random question sequence

IMPORTANT

At the time of viewing the course, the quiz questions appear in a random sequence.

This means:

  • Two learners may see the same quiz questions in a different order.
  • The order can also change between attempts.
  • If Limit number of questions is enabled, the quiz randomly selects which questions appear in that attempt.

Feedback flow

  • Feedback On: after submitting an answer, feedback is shown and the learner clicks Next question.
  • Feedback Off: after submitting an answer, the quiz automatically moves to the next question (or finishes the quiz).

Finishing a quiz attempt

After the learner answers all required questions, they must click Finish quiz to complete the attempt and view their score.

Retakes (attempt limits)

  • If Limit number of attempts is enabled and the learner reaches the maximum, the quiz will not offer Start New Attempt.
  • If attempt limiting is disabled, learners can start new attempts as needed.

Save and publish changes

Quiz question and settings changes are only applied after you click Save in the editor.
